I’ve used many kinds of wood for strikers. The majority produce a sound that is very similar. Any difference is very minimal. However there are exceptions such as kingwood and ebony.
However I’ve found that hickory is produces a very high quality, time proven sound. So that is my go to wood for the strikers I turn and carve the turtle heads out of.
